Class Procedures​

We look forward to welcoming your dancer to class. In order for your dancer to learn in the best environment, please follow the class time expectations below.

Please be sure that your dancer arrives on time and ready to dance.

Dancers are not permitted to bring parents or friends to class as it can cause unnecessary distractions and disrupt the classroom dynamic.

Dancers cannot bring tablets, cell phones, or other electronics to class as they create distractions. Cell phones must be placed in dance bags.

The dress code is mandatory for all classes, including proper shoes and attires.

The only dance shoes are allowed on the dance floor; street shoes are not allowed.

If your child has any medical or learning conditions that you believe we should be aware of, please inform the directors before beginning classes.

Murphy Academy of Irish Dance is not liable or responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items, nor for any injuries that may occur on the premises.

It is the student/parent's responsibility to inform the teacher through email of any injury or limitations that may hinder a dancer from fully participating in a class. Safety is always our top priority.

Murphy Academy of Irish Dance is a peanuts and nuts free studio.

Murphy Academy of Irish Dance is a smoke-free studio.

A minimum of 5 dancers is required for a class to take place. Should a class need to be closed or combined, you will be informed one week prior to the start date.

Please note that all classes, faculty, and scheduled performances are subject to change.

Parents are responsible for their child/children before the class begins and after the completion of the class.

All families are required to acknowledge and review the policies on the Jackrabbit portal.
Attendance
-
Regular attendance is necessary to promote a good learning environment. The Murphy Academy has the right to place a student in another class because of excessive absences and/or tardiness.​

This year we cannot guarantee a makeup class for missed classes. We have a very structured schedule that does not allow for the dancers to come and go due to missed classes. We ask that you prioritize attending class and if you must miss due to circumstances not in your control, example illness, you send us videos through email for us to help your dancer virtually.​

​Students that drop out midyear must notify the studio in writing of their plans to withdraw from the class. All payments are due in full prior to written plans of your child’s withdrawal. This includes payment for all classes in the month and months of classes the child attended.

Class placement

Students are placed in classes according to their age, ability, attitude and achievement.

Returning Dancers will be given their class color before the time of registration.

You must sign your dancer up for that color classes only. We ask that you refrain from asking to be in other class colors as each color class is design specifically for the returning dancers placed in that class.

If a student is struggling with the pace of a class, the teacher has the right to reassign them to a more suitable class.

Only your child’s teacher will be able to determine the proper class.

Teachers will monitor the student’s progress by the standards of An Commission (the Irish dancing Organization in Ireland).
